Tom Brady ‘not opposed’ to NFL comeback: ‘I’m always going to be in good shape’

When he retired for the second time, Tom Brady said he was hanging up his cleats “for good.”

His first retirement lasted just 40 days before he pulled a 180 and came back, but the 2023 season was the first without Brady since 1999.

However, heading into year two post-Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion is, once again, somewhat skeptical.

On the “DeepCuts” podcast, Brady was asked if he would “pick up the phone” if he needed to fill a void with an injury.

“I am not opposed to it” Brady said with a smile.

“I don’t know…I’ll still be in shape, still be able to throw the ball. So to kind of come in, like MJ coming back, I don’t know if they would let me in, but I don’t would not object to it.

Brady said he likely wouldn’t be able to do that if he eventually becomes a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, as his offer is currently still on the table.

This isn’t the first time Brady has hinted at a second non-retirement. Last August, Brady took a shirtless selfie, still looking like he could fit under center, saying he was “thinking about finding a training camp to report to.”

However, a few months before, he had said he was “sure he wouldn’t play again.”

“I’ve tried to make it clear, and I hate to keep professing it because I’ve already told people so many times,” he said.

But for now, it’s not so clear.

Brady spent 20 of his 23 NFL seasons with the New England Patriots; he spent his last three games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
