The WNBA and the maker of the first-ever over-the-counter birth control pill announced a multi-year partnership Tuesday — one that will debut during the 2024 WNBA Draft on Monday.
In a joint press release, the WNBA and Perrigo announced the new partnership that focuses on the league’s efforts this season to draw attention to “civic engagement and advocacy for reproductive health.

“At the WNBA, we are committed to solving the issues that matter to players, and expanding access to reproductive health care is one of those key issues,” said WNBA Chief Growth Officer Colie Edison. , in a press release.

Last month, Opill became the first daily oral contraceptive available without a prescription in the United States.

“Opill is a game-changer in reproductive health, much like the WNBA’s revolutionary role in sports and pop culture,” Leila Bahbah, Perrigo US Women’s Health brand manager, said in a statement. “Building on our shared commitment to fostering equitable access and increasing health education, the goal of this partnership is to prioritize dialogue and resources for women’s reproductive health.
Opill will be an associated partner of WNBA Draft in New York next week.
